I have experience facilitating peer support groups for adults focused on their experiences of anxiety and neurodiversity.
I have worked with many young women exploring a late diagnosis of ADHD or autism, processing what that means for them and understanding the impact of masking, supporting with accessing a Right to Choose referral if they wish for an asessment. As well as supporting young people with the challenges navigating a neurotypical world can bring, providing a space to vent and process emotions to prevent burnout.
Autism in women has always been an area of interest in me, as it is less understood with a lot of research focus on a typical male presentation.
Therefore, for my research during my Masters I conducted a study looking at the association between anxiety and autisitc traits in women, based on the hypothesis that women with autism may be being misdiagnosed as having an anxiety disorder due to their masking.
