Kpop Demon Hunters and mental health

🌸Kpop Demon Hunters and Mental Health🌸

What can Kpop Demon Hunters teach us about mental health?

🌸 “We can’t fix it we never face it” 🌸

In order to heal and feel “whole” we have to face all the parts of us with acceptance and compassion. Therapy can help us recognise that maybe that part of us that we don’t like is acting that way because that’s how it learned to survive, and by accepting that we can work on introducing new ways of coping.

🌸 “I lived two lives, tried to play both sides, But I couldn’t find my own place.” 🌸

Hiding parts of ourselves may be a type of masking, which is really common in neurodiversity, but we can all do it sometimes. That fake smile that we put on at work, pretending everything is fine. But not being true to ourselves can increase our anxiety and leave us not feeling whole.

🌸 “You’re too much and not enough” 🌸

The demons in the film are just like the self-criticising voices in our heads that play on our worries and insecurities. Reminding yourself it is your demon/anxiety talking can help you separate from that thought.

🌸 “I broke in to a million pieces.. but now I’m seeing all the beauty in the broken glass” 🌸

Not everything can be “moved on” from, but we can accept that (and ourselves) and see the beauty anyway (and our strength at what we have survived!)

🌸 “Put these patterns all in the past now” 🌸

Therapy can help you recognise your patterns and how they are contributing to how you are feeling now

🌸 “I’m done hiding now I’m shining like I’m born to be. Our time, no fears, no lies. That’s who we’re born to be” 🌸

Remember that everything doesn’t have to be golden all the time, but you don’t have to let your fears stop you shining.
